COOKBOOK MARKETING

In 1995-1996 the BWC published the
Tasteful Treasures Cookbook
with the goal of establishing a trust fund with a minimum of $25,000. The concept was to reduce the need to provide substantial fundraisers each year to support our scholarships and charitable donations. The funds collected from the continued sales of the cookbooks are kept in Certificates of Deposit. Only the annual interest earned from the CDs will be used for donations.

HOSTESS COMMITTEE

Chair: Julie Shappals

All active members (except Officers and Board of Directors) are required to serve on one monthly luncheon committee. Officers and Board of Directors are responsible for the New Members' Coffee. If a member is unable to serve in her scheduled month, she should try to trade with someone in another month OR pay $30.00 to the monthly luncheon chair one week prior to the luncheon. The month a member will serve is listed in your yearbook. The monthly hostess is the contact person. If a monthly luncheon chair sees an unexpected need for additional food, some members may be willing to contribute an extra dish. Members who can help over and above their assigned month should let the Chair of the Hostess Committee know the months they are available to give extra help. The Chair of the Hostess Committee will contact these volunteers.

Town Memorial Tree Committee

Co-Chairs: Pat Graham/Nancy Herper

The Town Memorial Tree now is a Frazier fir in front of the Presbyterian Church.  The Bedford Women's Club decorates it with white lights each December.  The Bedford Garden Club has cared for all town memorial trees since 1947.  In 1996 BWC began working to honor those who fostered friendship, those who inspire us, and those who deserve recognition for military service.  The FIR theme will continue at the tree lighting ceremony on December 10, 2009, at 3:00 pm.

OLDE TOWNE DAY

Chair: Denise Rotier

This all-day event is scheduled for  September 19, 2009. Thanks to the many members who plan to give up part of their day to earn money for the Club selling our cookbook,  Tasteful Treasures,  and our historically inspired playing cards.  Monies earned from our bean bag toss game is donated to the town Parks and Recreation Department.

SUNSHINE LIST

Cards are sent to members and/or their families with good wishes or condolences. Please contact Rebecca Bouranis or Madonna Lovett Repeta by phone or e-mail if you know of any member that may be in need of our acknowledgment.

TRANSPORTATION

If you need a ride to any Women's Club Event, please contact Nita Beale.  She, in turn, will arrange transportation with a member of the transportation committee.

CALLING COMMITTEE

Chair: Christine Buffey

Each month a member of the calling committee will contact you by your choice of either phone or e-mail with information and request for your reservation for the monthly luncheon/program/meeting. Often you will be reminded of other activities; i.e., lunching out, community service, day trips, etc., which may be of interest to you. Please respond promptly to the requests. If you are not contacted, please call the committee chair.

YEARBOOK

Chair: Lori Radke

Lori Radke typed and edited this year's book. Final editing and proofreading was done thanks to members of the yearbook committee staff.
