Dear Friends,

Welcome! The 2011-2012 year of the Bedford Women’s Club is shaping up to be another action packed year. Our membership numbers remain strong. Our commitment to the community is steadfast. And, our programs, activities and interest groups are growing. All this is possible as a result of the commitment of the Executive Board, committee chairs and interest group leaders. But of course, each of them would not be successful without the devotion of the many members who gave up lots of summer hours to pull together our programs, fund raisers, and activities we will be enjoying throughout the year.

We have lost one of our own.  Recently, Jo Fearon passed away. As the most senior member and a past president of the Bedford Women's Club we all share in the loss.  She brought her energy and spicy outlook to our meetings and we will miss her.

FEBRUARY MEETING:

Thursday, February 23, 2011

PROGRAM MEETING - Light Luncheon Served

Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall 11:30 am -- 2:00 pm

PROGRAM: Bedford Police Department - “Personal Safety

and Self Defense”

Today one of Bedford’s Police Officers will be with us providing tips on risk reduction and avoidance; environmental awareness; and some defensive techniques to diffuse dangerous situations. Many Bedford students have taken a course on the art of self-defense, organized by Officer Jessica Humphrey, the school resource officer at Bedford High School. This program will provide an opportunity to meet a Bedford Police Officer, and to learn more about how we can help the police keep us, and Bedford, a safer place.
