PROGRAM SPEAKER: Dr. Meoghan B. Cronin, Ph.D. - “Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein”
Dr. Cronin will speak on Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein. First published in 1812, when Mary Shelley was only 21, it is considered one of the world’s most remarkable books. This gothic tale is known for its force of prose and surreal imagery. Dr. Cronin specializes in Romantic and Victorian literature at Saint Anselm College. She came to the college in 1993 with a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware.
Dr. Cronin’s published work focuses on the novels of Thomas Hardy, and has lectured at the Thomas Hardy Society Conference in Dorchester, England. In June 2006, Dr. Cronin received the New Hampshire Excellence Award for postsecondary education.
Dr. Cronin and her husband, Mark Cronin, who is the Assistant Dean of the college, live in Goffstown with their 2 children.
Please note: It is not necessary to have read the book to enjoy Dr. Conin's insights, however if you are interested in reading the book, the Bedford Public Library has several copies available.
